Cassia Harvey

Cassia Harvey has been teaching cello for sixteen years. She currently has a studio of 34 students. Her students have been accepted into the Delaware County Youth Orchestra, Philadelphia Sinfonia, Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra, Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, and Pennsylvania’s District, Regional, and All-State Orchestras, and the MENC All-Eastern Orchestra. They have been accepted into the Advanced Study Ensemble Program at Settlement Music School, the Masterworks Festival, Meadowmount School of Music, and Tanglewood Music Festival. Cassia’s students have won first prizes in the Korean-American Competition, the Lansdowne Symphony Competition, and in both the junior and senior divisions of the Tri-County Competition. They have soloed with the Bux-Mont Chamber Orchestra, the Warminster Symphony, and the Landsdowne Symphony. Her students have been accepted into Esther Boyer College of Music, Indiana University School of Music, and the Juilliard School.

Cassia’s Teaching Approach

Cassia has founded C. Harvey Publications, a company that publishes more than seventy technique and study books for strings that she has written. Her books are available in music stores such as  Johnson String Instruments and  Joseph Patelson Music House,  and through her website. The books were recently exhibited at the 2005 International Cello Congress in Kobe, Japan and at the 2006 RPMDA Conference in Portland, Oregon.
